Application Process

Your first step to becoming a Maple Leaf Montessori (MLM) family is to book an interview and tour with our Administrator and Founder, Johanna Madeley. All students must submit a completed MLM Application form along with their Application Fee. Once a student’s application is submitted, the student and parents will attend a formal Acceptance Interview with an Administrator. Families will be notified following this interview whether their child has been accepted into their requested program. Application Fees are only applicable once to new families.

Waitlist Policy

Students accepted into MLM programs that do not have spaces immediately available are date-stamped and added to our Official Wait List. Families are notified promptly once a space has become available in the program for which they have applied. Once notified, families have thirty (30) days to accept their child’s placement and submit to school administration their child’s Registration Fee. Upon receiving the student’s Registration Fee, that student’s position in that program is held. Please note that returning students and siblings of present students already attending MLM are given waitlist priority.

Uniform Policy/Dress Code

Children should be sent to school in practical clothes. Elastic waist pants should be given to younger children instead of clothing with complicated belts and fasteners as these clothes can sometimes lead to accidents. Please ensure that outer footwear can be put on and taken off independently. This fosters independence and encourages the children to learn how to lace, as shoes with laces are a reward for learning this new skill.

Maple Leaf Montessori School has both an official Winter and Summer uniform for all Elementary students. In Winter, the full uniform includes a school tie, white dress shirt, tartan tunic and MLM crested cardigan for Lower Elementary girls and a school tie, white dress shirt, tartan kilt and MLM crested cardigan for Upper Elementary girls. For Upper and Lower Elementary boys the full uniform consists of a school tie, white dress shirt, navy pants and MLM crested cardigan. These items must be worn on Wednesday, which is full uniform day. On other days, students may wear a light or dark blue turtleneck paired with their choice of uniformed pants, kilts or tunics. Summer uniforms are implemented after March Break and students wear navy shorts or skorts and an MLM crested light blue polo shirt.

Monday and Friday are Physical Education days and children wear our gym uniform jogging suit or shorts and MLM t-shirt.

Full uniform is required for all concerts, class trips and picture day.

“Civvies Days” are the third Friday of every month, unless otherwise stipulated in our newsletter or school calendar. On this day, Upper and Lower Elementary are encouraged to wear the clothing of their choice.
